Job summary

Sigma Technologies seeks experienced Make-Ready Designers and Power Distribution Designers to support overhead utility projects. Remote (U.S.) roles emphasize NESC, pole loading, clearance analysis, and construction-ready design, using CAD and related tools.

Strong collaboration and accuracy are essential for major electric and telecom utilities. Responsibilities include reviewing field data, modeling pole loading, determining make-ready needs, and delivering complete construction packages.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree preferred.
• Minimum 2 years in make-ready engineering, joint-use design, or electric power distribution design; 3+ years preferred.
• Experience with utility pole design, NESC, clearance analysis, pole loading concepts, and construction-ready packages.
• Proficiency with CAD or MicroStation; experience with DDS, Katapult, O-Calc or similar platforms.
• Strong knowledge of power distribution construction practices; willingness to learn client systems.
• Valid driver's license, active auto insurance, and ability to pass screenings.
• Authorization to work in the United States; willingness to travel occasionally.
• Ability to work standard Monday-Friday schedule aligned to Eastern Time with adjustments as needed.

Responsibilities

• Review field/walkout data and evaluate attachment conditions.
• Model pole loading and determine make-ready requirements.
• Prepare construction-ready design packages and deliverables.
• Collaborate to resolve design challenges and ensure accurate outputs.
• Apply NESC requirements and internal design standards.
• Use AutoCAD, MicroStation, DDS, Katapult, O-Calc, GIS, and client systems.
• Perform quality control reviews and support additional duties.
