Job summary

Sigma Technologies, Ltd. is hiring a Power Distribution and Make Ready Designer for a remote role based in Columbia, SC. The position emphasizes overhead pole design, NESC compliance, and make-ready optimization, with primary focus on Make-Ready design and experience in pole loading, attachments, and permitting.

A two-week paid in-person orientation at Perrysburg, OH HQ is required. The role demands strong CAD skills (AutoCAD, MicroStation) and proficiency with DDS, Katapult, O-Calc, GIS, and

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree preferred.
• Minimum 2 years in make-ready engineering, joint-use, or electric power distribution (3+ years preferred).
• Experience in utility pole design with NESC application, clearance analysis, pole loading, and construction-ready design packages.
• Proficiency with CAD or MicroStation; familiarity with DDS, Katapult, O-Calc, or similar platforms.
• Understanding of power distribution construction practices and ability to learn proprietary systems.
• Valid driver's license, auto insurance, and ability to pass background checks.
• Authorization to work in the United States; occasional travel; Monday–Friday ET schedule.

Responsibilities

• Execute overhead distribution or make-ready design work orders meeting quality and schedule goals.
• Apply engineering design standards, NESC requirements, and internal processes.
• Perform end-to-end make-ready, joint-use, and general distribution design.
• Conduct permitting and easement research (ROW, ownership, approvals).
• Collaborate with teammates to resolve design challenges and deliver accurate outputs.
• Use AutoCAD, MicroStation, DDS, PoleForeman, O-Calc, Katapult, or client systems.
• Perform quality control reviews and support additional duties as assigned.
