Job summary

Sigma Technologies, Ltd. is seeking a Power Distribution and Make Ready Designer to support overhead pole design, NESC compliance, and joint-use work from a remote location in the United States.

The role includes reviewing field data, modeling pole loading, determining make-ready needs, and delivering construction-ready packages using AutoCAD, MicroStation, DDS, Katapult, O-Calc, GIS, and related tools. This position is remote, with a 2-week in-person orientation at Perrysburg, OH HQ.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; an associate degree or higher in engineering, drafting, or a related field preferred
• Minimum 2 years of experience in make-ready engineering, joint-use design, or electric distribution design (3+ years strongly preferred)
• Proven experience in utility pole design, including NESC application, clearance analysis, pole loading concepts, and construction-ready design packages
• Proficiency with CAD or MicroStation; experience with DDS, Katapult, O-Calc, or similar utility design platforms strongly preferred
• Solid understanding of power distribution construction practices and ability to learn utility-specific systems quickly
• Must hold a valid driver’s license, valid auto insurance, and pass background/MVR screenings; US work authorization required
• Willingness to travel occasionally; Eastern Time schedule with adjustments as needed
• Willingness to attend a 2-week in-person orientation in Perrysburg, OH

Responsibilities

• Execute overhead distribution or make-ready design work orders while meeting quality, time, and budget expectations
• Apply established engineering design standards and NESC requirements
• Perform end-to-end make-ready, joint-use, and general distribution design
• Conduct permitting and easement research (pole ownership, ROW, property rights)
• Collaborate with team to resolve design challenges and ensure accurate deliverables
• Use AutoCAD, MicroStation, DDS, Katapult, O-Calc, Katapult, or client systems
• Perform quality control reviews when required
• Support additional duties as assigned
