Job summary

PowerLines is seeking a Head of Policy to develop and drive the organization’s policy strategy, lead a growing team, and engage with governors, state legislators, and energy offices nationwide. This senior role shapes regulatory and consumer protections policy while building coalitions and partnerships across a bipartisan landscape.

The Head of Policy reports to the Founder and Executive Director, works remotely with 10–20% travel, and collaborates with the executive leadership to advance

Qualifications

• 10+ years in state or federal policy, legislative affairs, or advocacy.
• Proven ability to lead staff and foster growth.
• Track record of multi-state policy campaigns delivering results.
• Strong relationships with governors’ offices, NGA and NCSL.
• Nonpartisan approach across political spectrum.

Responsibilities

• Lead PowerLines policy team and execute policy strategy.
• Engage with policymakers at the state level and build bipartisan coalitions.
• Oversee policy products, dashboards, and issue briefs with sign-off from leadership.
• Represent PowerLines externally and support fundraising efforts.
• Coordinate across Policy, Regulatory, and Communications teams.
