Job summary

Council of State Governments (CSG South) seeks a Policy Analyst to execute research initiatives, track legislation, and deliver high-quality outputs supporting state leaders in the Southern region. The role reports to the Director of Policy and Research and emphasizes neutral, data-driven insights.

You will collaborate with colleagues, elected officials, and partners to advance committee work, publications, and programs while maintaining accountability for deliverables and nonpartisan public

Qualifications

• Minimum of three years of employment in research/public policy.
• Ability to synthesize complex information into clear nonpartisan materials.
• Strong writing, editing, and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Foster relationships with legislators, staff, and partners.
• Track legislative sessions and coordinate travel to member state capitols.
• Prepare issue briefs, reports, and meeting materials for committees.
• Support standing committees and policy programs with liaisons and briefings.
• Produce policy publications and respond to information requests from branches of government.
• Assist with events and sessions for the Southern Legislative Conference (SLC).
• Maintain records and databases for tracking and reporting.
• Develop surveys and gather policy data.
