Job summary

Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) seeks a Policy Analyst, Program Specialist VII, to support forensic policy initiatives in the Office of Forensic Services and Coordination. You will monitor legislation, develop policy, and coordinate across departments to advance Texas’s forensic health strategy.

The role requires expertise in forensic mental health policy, strong communication, and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in one of the specified disciplines required or equivalent experience.
• Master’s degree preferred for advanced policy work.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills required.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and analyze legislation and bills; prepare summaries for leadership (40%).
• Develop, implement, and evaluate statewide forensic policy initiatives (30%).
• Provide technical assistance and interdepartmental collaboration on policy matters (20%).
• Lead meetings, coordinate tasks with leadership, and handle special assignments (10%).
