Backpack Healthcare, LLC is seeking a part-time Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to provide telehealth psychiatric care for children, teens, and young adults in Virginia. The role requires an active Virginia PMHNP license and allows autonomous practice within a collaborative team.

You will conduct evaluations, develop treatment plans, prescribe medications, and support families through care coordination in a remote setting.

Qualifications

• Must hold an active Virginia PMHNP license and PMHNP-BC board certification.
• Independent practice without MD collaboration agreement required.
• Experience with or strong interest in youth and families in telehealth.
• Ability to practice autonomously within a collaborative care team.
• Proven strong communication and empathetic patient engagement.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and formulate evidence-based diagnoses.
• Develop individualized treatment plans in partnership with patients and families.
• Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications; monitor effectiveness and adjust as needed.
• Provide brief supportive interventions and psychoeducation alongside medication management.
• Collaborate with therapists and care coordinators in regular case reviews.
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation in our EHR.
• Educate families about diagnoses, treatment options, and expectations.
