Job summary

Messer is looking for a Remote Operator 1 to oversee the operation of roughly six air separation plants from our Bethlehem, PA control room. The role involves steady state operation, optimization, and on-shift restarts, with a collaborative, problem-solving approach to ensure a reliable gas supply to customers.

Ideal candidates will have a High School diploma or GED, with 2+ years in a process-plant ops role or military experience, or a recent engineering/physical science degree.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED is required.
• Minimum of 2 years plant experience in a process-plant related operations role (chemicals, pharma, oil & gas, power, etc.).
• Military experience (e.g., Navy Nukes, Navy Fire Controlman, Air Force Fuels) or recent engineering/physical science degree accepted.

Responsibilities

• Operate approximately six air separation plants via computer interface on shift.
• Respond to and troubleshoot process upsets and plant problems.
• Perform plant shutdowns and startups.
• Power management and emergency response.
• Monitor KPIs and investigate deficiencies; escalate as needed.
• Communicate plant status and performance to the business.
• Provide ad-hoc support including alarm response and troubleshooting for non-ROC plants.
• Maintain network security practices and requirements.
