Job summary

Messer North America, Inc. is seeking an Operations Technician to help maintain a safe, efficient, and reliable chemical manufacturing process in compliance with applicable regulations.

The role covers preventative and corrective maintenance to ensure continuous operation and safety across plant systems. The successful candidate will work with a team to troubleshoot process issues, perform routine maintenance tasks, and support shutdowns/startups as needed.

Qualifications

  • HS Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 1 year of related process plant operations/reliability experience.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and climb heights over 200 ft.
  • Valid driver’s license and color vision.
  • Experience with SAP or CMMS is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain safe, efficient, and reliable operation of a chemical process following regulations.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance as part of the maintenance program.
  • Assist in shutdowns, startups, and production state changes.
  • Troubleshoot process problems to identify maintenance needs.
  • Support documentation and reporting of maintenance actions.

As an Operations Technician, yourprimaryresponsibilitieswill include maintaining asafe, efficient andreliableoperation of a chemical manufacturing process in accordance with local, state and federal regulations. Your activities will includefollowing throughon preventative, corrective and preventative maintenance.

Safety:
  • Understandand adhere to companysafework policies.
  • Apply the HWP process, LOTO and energy isolation procedures asrequiredfor company and contractor personnel.
  • Follow EMOC procedure for all changes to process and operating procedures.
  • Perform safety indoctrinations for contractors
Reliability:
  • Utilize Computerized MaintenanceManagementSystem (SAP) toimplement, document and continuously improve equipment preventative and corrective maintenanceplans.
  • SupportZone Production Manager, utilizing systems to document all corrective actions issued to the site from Audits and Incidents review (when applicable).
  • Inventory oversight to include spare parts inventory
  • Collect trends in equipment condition monitoring tasks; vibration readings
Process Operation and Efficiency:
  • Assist Shutdowns, Start-ups, de-rime, and production state changes for plant(s) in area.
  • Apply the Hazardous Work Permit (HWP) process, Lock Out, Tag Out (LOTO) and energy isolation procedures
  • Troubleshoot process problems to identify equipment maintenance requirements
  • Perform water treatment tasks
  • Accept on call duty andovertimeasrequired
RequiredSkills:
  • Math - Basic algebra, fractions/percentages, unitconversion.
  • Personal computer proficiency
  • Excellentinterpersonal abilities andorganizationalcapability
  • Self-started, self-motivated
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to work with simple mechanic’s handtools.
  • Familiar with codes and standards associated with wiring and conduit.
  • Basicunderstandingof electrical hazards and safety, and ability to troubleshoot electrical systems, withsupportfrom central engineering.
  • Basicunderstandingof pneumatically actuated valves and control systems.
  • Understandingof all trip and interlocklogicprotecting people and equipment.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings including P&IDs and PFDs.
  • Ability to interpret electrical drawings including Single line diagrams.
  • Able to navigate a documentationsystem to find relevant work instructions, forms, andsupportingdocumentation.
  • Ability to complete all preventive maintenance jobs according to best practice.
  • Capable of operating a forklift, and/or overhead crane, and/or manliftaccording to company policy.
  • Reside within areasonabledistance of plant.
Qualifications:
  • HS Diploma or GED
  • Min. 1 year of relevant experience in a related process plant operations reliability activity
  • Physically able to perform all duties required which may involve among other things: bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing ladders, and lifting and carrying loads of up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to climb to heights over 200 ft above grade and work effectively.
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Capable of distinguishing different colors.
