Job summary

G-TECH Services LLC seeks an experienced Piping Designer in Houston to support industrial projects. You will leverage SmartPlant P&ID, SP3D, and MicroStation to develop piping designs and produce isometrics, layouts, and BOMs.

You will collaborate with engineers and construction teams, ensure code compliance (ASME/ANSI/API), and help resolve design and field issues throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or technical diploma in drafting/design or HS diploma with relevant experience.
• 3–5 years of piping design experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with SmartPlant P&ID.
• Proficiency with SmartPlant 3D (SP3D).
• Proficiency with MicroStation.
• Understanding of piping systems, materials, specifications, and fabrication methods.
• Ability to interpret P&IDs and engineering drawings.
• Familiarity with ASME, ANSI, API codes and standards.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Develop piping designs using MicroStation and SP3D.
• Create and update SmartPlant P&IDs and interpret piping/process info.
• Prepare piping layouts, isometrics, BOMs, and support details.
• Interpret P&IDs, piping specs, and drawings per design requirements.
• Troubleshoot design/modeling issues with MicroStation and SP3D.
• Coordinate with engineers/designers for consistency and accuracy.
• Ensure designs comply with codes, standards, specs, and project needs.
• Participate in model reviews for constructability/maintainability.
• Assist with design challenges and field issues.
• Review work and guide junior designers as needed.
• Support project and construction teams through lifecycle.
