Job summary

St. Luke’s University Health Network is seeking a Physician Coder to code and abstract physician services in the hospital setting, ensuring data quality through quarterly reviews and accurate data entry into specialized databases.

You will collaborate with Medical Records, Finance and Physician Billing to ensure proper information flow. The role requires 1–3 years of CPT/HCPCS coding experience, RHIA/RHIT/CPC/CCS-P credentials, and a working knowledge of ICD-9/ICD-10, CPT and HCPCS guidelines.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1-3 years experience in CPT/HCPCS physician procedural coding.
• Working knowledge of ICD-9/ICD-10, CPT and HCPCS coding.
• Experience with computerized patient records or coding systems.

Responsibilities

• Codes and abstracts professional fee hospital services for SLPG physicians from medical records according to coding guidelines.
• Maintains a 95% coding accuracy rate as measured through quality reviews.
• Maintains daily productivity as outlined.
• Keeps up-to-date knowledge of coding guidelines related to hospital services.
• Performs data entry of abstracted physician information into specialty databases.
• Conducts educational sessions for the medical staff on coding and documentation compliance.
