Job summary

Excellus BCBS is seeking a Pharmacy Outreach Coordinator to support pharmacy programs aimed at reducing costs and improving quality for our health plan members. The role involves outreach to providers, members, and pharmacies and collaboration with clinical and analytic staff.

The position emphasizes administrative tasks, data analysis, and maintaining program integrity while ensuring member privacy and high customer service standards. Travel to meet program goals is possible as needed.

Qualifications

• High school education required with a minimum of two years’ experience in health related field.
• Pharmacy Technician certification (CPhT) strongly preferred.
• Experience in doctor’s offices, hospitals, infusion centers, pharmacies, or customer service preferred.
• Basic understanding of drug classes and therapeutic interchange as displayed on formulary or described in policies.
• Awareness of prescription and medical benefits as it applies to utilization review and drug formulary desired but not required.
• Strong communication skills are necessary including written, verbal and telephone.

Responsibilities

• Supports pharmacy programs and projects through administrative tasks.
• Performs provider, member, and pharmacy outreach related to clinical programs.
• Analyzes financial progress reports and prioritizes tasks to meet stakeholders.
• Serves as an outpatient medication access specialist for members locally and outside service area.
• Conducts routine quality checks on system applications and documents improvements.
