Job summary

Zions Bancorporation's Enterprise Technology and Operations team is hiring a Software Engineer focused on performance engineering and site reliability. You will design and execute load tests with JMeter or LoadRunner, analyze REST APIs and batch processing under load, and identify bottlenecks across application and database layers.

You will monitor health with Grafana and Splunk, drive root-cause analysis, and integrate testing into CI/CD pipelines while collaborating with cross-functional teams

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience analyzing performance of REST APIs, SOAP Services, Event-driven systems, Microservices, and Batch processing applications.
• Strong proficiency in Java, Python, or C# (or similar).
• Strong SQL and database performance tuning experience.
• Knowledge of Linux, cloud platforms, CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and observability tools.
• Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills.
• Experience in application performance tuning, reliability engineering, or SRE practices.
• Knowledge of distributed systems and modern application architecture.

Responsibilities

• Design and execute load, stress, scalability, and endurance tests using JMeter or LoadRunner.
• Analyze performance across application, API, database, and batch processing under load.
• Identify bottlenecks and propose performance improvements across layers.
• Monitor system health with Grafana, Splunk, and observability tools.
• Drive root cause analysis, tuning, and resiliency improvements.
• Integrate performance testing and monitoring into CI/CD pipelines.
• Collaborate with development and platform teams to meet performance targets.
