Job summary

Clarivate Analytics US LLC seeks a Patent Analyst – Remote Independent Contractor to research and analyze cutting-edge technologies in Computing, Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or Physics.

This 1099 role supports our USPTO contract, performing comprehensive searches and writing opinions on patentability. You will use Orbit, PatBase, Google Scholar, and PatSeer while meeting tight deadlines and maintaining database proficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Technology, Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Physics, or related field.
• 1+ year of experience working with patents or in the intellectual property field.
• 1+ year of work experience in the industry or advanced research in a related field.
• Must pass USPTO Background check.
• Ability to obtain a Public Trust Clearance.
• U.S. citizen or work eligible legal resident who has resided in the U.S. for the last two years.

Responsibilities

• Accept projects with defined due dates weekly based on availability and needs of Clarivate.
• Read disclosures quickly and identify technical nuances that distinguish them from prior art.
• Perform comprehensive searches to locate relevant prior art and provide a complete search history.
• Prepare written opinions applying the most relevant prior art to the disclosure.
• Maintain proficiency with commercial patent searching databases and other proprietary databases of technical publications.
• Stay updated on best practices and changes to search procedures via Clarivate materials.
• Maintain timeliness and high quality of deliverables.
• Ensure compliance with Clarivate’s Code of Business Ethics and Corporate Conduct.
