Job summary

Peoplease is seeking a qualified Payroll Specialist to join our team. The Payroll Specialist will partner with PEO clients to deliver accurate, compliant payrolls in a remote work setup. West Coast candidates are preferred with an 8am-5pm PT schedule.

Ideal candidates have 1+ year multi-state payroll experience, proficiency in Prism, and strong communication and attention to detail. This role supports HR, benefits, and risk management within a distributed team.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s in finance, business, or accounting preferred.
• 1+ year of multi-state payroll experience.
• Experience with Prism is preferred.
• 10-key data entry experience preferred.
• Strong Microsoft Office skills and ability to learn payroll systems.
• Strong communication and attention to detail; ability to travel if needed.

Responsibilities

• Compile payroll data and billing records for clients and worksite employees.
• Prepare and execute pay orders through electronic systems and issue paychecks.
• Compile payroll data for assigned client base including taxes, benefits, and garnishments.
• Record changes affecting net wages and maintain client payroll information.
• Review new hires and employee changes to ensure accurate payroll processing.
• Educate clients on tax regulations and payroll procedures; assist with system navigation.
• Collaborate with internal departments and client service teams to resolve issues.
• Maintain knowledge of payroll laws and PEO offerings for client inquiries.
• Ensure high quality payroll service and positive client relations; support cost tracking.
