Job summary

Peoplease is seeking a Payroll Specialist to join our remote team, partnering with PEO clients to deliver accurate, compliant payrolls across multiple states.

The ideal candidate has 1+ year of multi-state payroll experience, strong communication, and proficiency with Microsoft Office; Prism experience is a plus. This role supports a distributed workforce with West Coast hours (8am–5pm PT) and may require travel for continuity.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Associate or BA degree in finance, business, or accounting preferred.
• 1+ year multi-state payroll experience required.
• 8am-5pm PST work schedule required.
• 6+ months PEO experience highly preferred.
• Prism experience highly preferred.
• 10key experience preferred.
• FPC Certification preferred.
• Strong computer literacy including Microsoft Office.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to travel to office for business continuity purposes if needed.
• Ability to multi-task, establish priorities and work independently.

Responsibilities

• Compiles payroll data and billing records, while assisting customers and worksite employees.
• Accurately prepare and execute pay orders through electronic system and issue paychecks in accordance with PEO guidelines.
• Compiles payroll data for assigned client base, including taxes, benefits, and garnishments.
• Records changes affecting net wages and updates payroll systems accordingly.
• Maintains client information in the payroll system and produces related reports.
• Reviews new hire and employee change paperwork to ensure accurate payroll.
• Trains and assists clients on payroll websites and tax regulations.
• Collaborates with payroll-related departments to resolve client issues.
• Keeps up to date with wage and tax law changes to support client needs.
• Ensures quality payroll service and maintains client relationships.
