Job summary

Merck in Rahway, NJ is seeking a diligent Payment Specialist to review contracts, set up payees, initiate site payments, and manage payment records in line with GAAP and Sarbanes-Oxley requirements.

You will answer payment inquiries, coordinate with sponsor record management groups, generate data reports, and maintain documentation. Requires a high school diploma with 1 year payment processing experience and strong Excel and communication skills.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED with 1 year experience specific to payment processing.
• Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.

• Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications especially Excel.

Responsibilities

• Review all executed contracts and accurately set up payees and budget schedules.
• Initiate site payments according to policies and guidelines.
• Process site payments related to visits, milestones, and reimbursements under GAAP and SOX.
• Route and track payments for approval in a timely manner.
• Answer queries from internal and external customers regarding payments and budgets.
• Maintain information in appropriate databases or other tools.
• Organize, store, archive, and retrieve contracts and payment documentation.
• Coordinate records management in collaboration with sponsor’s groups.
• Develop and maintain data summary reports and related payment reconciliation reports.
