Job summary

Saint Luke’s East Hospital in Kansas City seeks a Patient Accounts Representative to manage patient billing, calls, and inquiries in a call center setting. You will assist with price estimates, payments, and financial counseling in line with policies.

You will process mail and faxes, handle EMR communications, and coordinate with other departments to resolve balances. Remote work is available for the Kansas City area; typical shift is Mon–Fri 8:30am–5:00pm.

Qualifications

• Experience in a healthcare billing or patient accounts setting is preferred.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to multitask and maintain accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Answer inbound patient calls
• Answer patient emails in EMR system
• Make outbound collection calls to obtain payment
• Provide price estimates for patients
• Process credit card payments
• Establish payment plans with patients
• Identify patients needing financial assistance and explain processes
• Research and troubleshoot issues related to patient balances
• Serve as liaison between patient and other departments
• Process incoming mail and faxes
• Process accounts in EMR work queue
• In SBO perform straightforward coding and meet productivity/quality metrics
• Identify opportunities to improve patient satisfaction and workflow efficiencies
