Job summary

Community of Hope in Washington, DC is seeking a Patient Account Receivable Specialist to follow up on outstanding claims and complete denials and appeals within guidelines. This role emphasizes timely filing and accurate billing, with a focus on Medicaid and DC Medicaid processes.

The position supports coordination with the Billing Manager and uses eClinicalWorks and payer portals to ensure proper COB, eligibility, and payment processing, with remote work options noted.

Qualifications

• High School diploma required.
• Healthcare billing/collections experience preferred.
• DC Medicaid/Medicare knowledge is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Follow up on outstanding claims within set guidelines.
• Complete denials and appeals within guidelines.
• Identify refunds and submit to Manager for review.
• Expedite claim adjudication by resolving ERA denials and aged claims within 21 days.
• Contact insurance companies daily to determine payment status and update PM system.
• Handle complex denials by researching and coordinating with patients and insurers.
