Job summary

Optum is seeking an Intake Operations Support Specialist – Infusion Therapy to process referrals, verify benefits and obtain authorizations from a remote location across the United States. You will coordinate with patients, families and referral sources to determine needs and ensure timely readiness for infusion services.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED and 2+ years in infusion therapy or related healthcare, with strong communication, organization and MS Office skills.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• 2+ years in infusion therapy, specialty pharmacy, or related healthcare service.
• Proven experience with healthcare insurance plans, eligibility and authorizations.
• Proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook; ability to learn new systems quickly.
• Strong customer service and communication skills with patients, families and referral partners.
• Detail-oriented, organized and able to multitask in a fast-paced setting.
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment while maintaining productivity.

Responsibilities

• Processes orders from referral sources.
• Assesses patient needs upon arrival.
• Responds to phone and fax inquiries.
• Verifies benefits and eligibility for services.
• Obtains information for prior authorizations if applicable.
• Completes start-of-care paperwork.
• Discusses financial responsibilities and needs for financial assistance.
• Enters new patients into the database.
• Uploads documents into patient files.
• Monitors referrals and addresses needs; assists with questions.
