Qualifications

• High school graduate required.
• Typically 5 years in medical entry, claims processing, HME or home care roles.
• Knowledge of third party payors, including Medicare/Medicaid and private insurance.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate HME referral and service order requests to ensure timely patient transition from hospital to home.
• Provide quality customer service to patients, physicians, referral sources, and external customers.
• Verify patient insurance benefits and eligibility and obtain prior authorization as needed.
• Identify payor requirements and communicate financial responsibilities to patients and staff.
• Support department goals by prioritizing insurance verification and prior authorization tasks.
