Job summary

Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree in HIM or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience, plus CPC/CCS-P/CCA

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in medical coding.
• CPC, CCS-P, or CCA certification required.
• Minimum 3 years of coding experience.
• Laboratory Pathology coding knowledge required (anatomical ok).
• Knowledge of CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10 and payer policies.

Responsibilities

• Assigns diagnosis and procedure codes to professional billing encounters based on documentation and coding guidelines.
• Reviews and codes moderately complex cases with multiple diagnoses or complex documentation.
• Reviews work queues in coding systems and resolves discrepancies.
• Collaborates with providers to clarify documentation to support accurate coding and billing.
• Participates in coding quality assurance and ensures compliance with coding guidelines.
