Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or higher in HIM, Medical Coding, or related field.
• CPC/CCA/CCS-P certification required.
• Minimum of 3 years of medical coding experience.
• Laboratory Pathology coding experience preferred.
• Minimum 1 year of Pathology coding experience.
• Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payer policies; coding compliance standards.
• Familiarity with CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10; physician documentation review.
• Experience with revenue cycle systems and coding queues.

Responsibilities

• Assigns diagnosis and procedure codes to professional billing encounters based on documentation and guidelines.
• Reviews and codes moderately complex cases with multiple diagnoses or comorbidities.
• Uses coding systems to review work queues, identify issues, and resolve discrepancies.
• Collaborates with providers to clarify documentation for accurate coding and billing.
• Participates in coding quality assurance and ensures compliance with guidelines while maintaining productivity.
• Core Coding Focus: professional fee coding in physician-based environment; CPT, ICD-10-CM, HCPCS, E/M leveling.
