Job summary

TELUS Digital is seeking an AI Speech & Audio Specialist to contribute to next-generation speech AI technologies. You will evaluate and improve AI-generated speech, review ASR outputs, and perform professional audio editing within a flexible, remote engagement.

Qualifications

• Minimum one of the following education paths: Audio Engineering, Sound Engineering, Music Technology, Phonetics, Speech-Language Pathology, CS (Speech/AI focus) or related fields.
• Professional experience in voice recording or related audio domains.
• Experience with at least one professional audio tool (iZotope RX, Reaper, Audacity, Logic Pro, Cubase).
• Knowledge of audio editing/restoration, speech segmentation, spectrogram analysis, and voice data workflows.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate AI-generated speech (TTS) for naturalness, pronunciation accuracy, rhythm, tone, emotion, and overall voice quality.
• Review and improve ASR outputs by identifying transcription and linguistic nuances.
• Perform professional audio editing tasks: segmentation, trimming, noise reduction, silence adjustment, quality enhancement.
• Analyze recordings using waveform/spectrogram tools to identify quality issues.
• Support creation/validation of high-quality speech datasets for model training/evaluation.
• Review voice recordings for clarity, articulation, and technical quality.
• Perform audio quality checks: loudness, noise, clipping, distortion, export specs.
• Support voice AI projects including TTS, ASR, voice generation and evaluation.
