Job summary

Pirate Ship, a remote-first ecommerce shipping software company, is seeking a Paralegal to join our crew as the First Mate of Legal Affairs. You will support GC with contracts, IP, compliance, and governance in a fast-paced tech environment.

Responsibilities include drafting and reviewing contracts, researching laws, managing IP, maintaining records, and coordinating with outside counsel. This role offers remote work with periodic in-person meetings and travel.

Qualifications

• 2-5 years of paralegal experience in tech or law firm.
• Exposure to intellectual property, contracts, and corporate law.
• Strong legal research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficient in legal document drafting and review.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Willingness to travel internationally and domestically quarterly.

Responsibilities

• Keep Our Documents Shipshape: prepare, review, and revise contracts and other legal documents.
• Scout the Legal Horizon: conduct legal research on regulatory compliance, IP, and commercial law.
• Help Safeguard Our Treasure: manage IP portfolio including trademarks, copyrights, and patents.
• Keep Our Governance on Course: assist in corporate governance, maintain records, and ensure compliance with policies.
• Support the Rules of the Seas: coordinate with outside counsel and cross-functional teams.
• Sail from your port o’ call: remote work with periodic in-person meetings.
• Hoist the Jolly Roger: share expertise to enhance culture.
