Pirate Ship in the United States is seeking a Paralegal, the First Mate of Legal Affairs, to support the General Counsel with contracts, IP management, compliance, and corporate governance in a fast-paced tech company.

This remote-first role allows home-based work with periodic in-person meetings. You’ll draft and review documents, conduct legal research, manage records, and coordinate with outside counsel while juggling multiple priorities.

Qualifications

• 2-5 years of paralegal experience, preferably in a technology company or law firm, with exposure to intellectual property, contracts, and corporate law.
• Strong legal research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficient in legal document drafting and review.
• Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and legal research tools and project management tools.
• Paralegal will be required to travel internationally and domestically on quarterly business meetings.

Responsabilités

• Keep Our Documents Shipshape: Assist in preparing, reviewing, and revising contracts, agreements, and other legal documents. Maintain an organized document management system to ensure timely compliance with legal obligations and deadlines.
• Scout the Legal Horizon: Conduct extensive legal research and analysis on regulatory compliance, IP, and commercial law. Monitor legislative changes affecting the company.
• Help Safeguard Our Treasure: Assist in managing the company’s IP portfolio, including trademarks, copyrights, and patents; coordinate with external counsel.
• Keep Our Governance on Course: Assist in corporate governance matters, including preparing documents for meetings and maintaining records.
• Support the Rules of the Seas: Provide administrative support and coordinate with outside counsel; scheduling and file management.
