Job summary

System One is seeking an IT Engineer - Network Administrator for a remote, offsite contract role. The candidate will secure and optimize the organization’s network infrastructure, configure Palo Alto firewalls, and create AppIDs to enforce policies.

Experience with Check Point in IaaS and Python automation is highly valued. Responsibilities include enabling reliable network performance, upgrading devices, and converting rules between layers using UserID and AppID.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience managing Palo Alto firewalls.
• Knowledge of converting rules from layer 4 to layer 7 using UserID and AppID.
• Experience creating custom AppIDs.
• Proven experience managing Palo Alto infrastructure including upgrades and configuration.
• Preferred: Experience managing Check Point firewalls in an IaaS environment.
• Preferred: Deployment experience with Palo Alto firewalls in an IaaS environment.
• Ability to leverage Python scripts for automation.
• Understanding of networking protocols, devices, firewalls, routers, VPNs, and network monitoring tools.

Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain organization's network infrastructure ensuring security, performance, and reliability.
• Configure, upgrade, patch, and troubleshoot Palo Alto firewalls.
• Convert layer 4 rules to layer 7 using userID and appID.
• Create custom AppID’s for network security policies.
• Manage Check Point firewalls in an IaaS environment (preferred).
• Deploy Palo Alto firewalls in an IaaS environment (preferred).
• Leverage Python scripts to automate network tasks (preferred).
• Monitor network performance and troubleshoot issues as needed.
