Job summary

UnitedHealth Group's Optum division is seeking a professional medical coder to assign diagnostic and procedure codes for palliative care, using CPT and ICD-10 coding and EMR systems. This role offers full-time hours with the option to telecommute from anywhere in the United States.

Qualified candidates hold a high school diploma, AHIMA or AAPC credentials (CPC/COC/CPC-P/CCS), and at least two years of coding experience in a Windows environment with Excel and EMR systems such as Epic.

Qualifications

• Professional coder certification with AHIMA/AAPC credentials
• 2+ years of PC experience in Windows and MS Excel
• 2+ years of ICD-10 and CPT coding with Palliative Care focus

Responsibilities

• Assigns accurate diagnostic and procedure codes per guidelines
• Monitors coding queues to ensure timely charges
• Generates coding queries for documentation clarity
• Stays updated on coding changes and conventions
