Job summary

UnitedHealth Group is seeking a professional medical coder to assign accurate diagnostic and procedure codes for palliative care services. You will ensure timely charging and coding, monitor work queues, and generate queries when documentation needs clarification.

The role requires ICD-10/CPT coding experience in palliative care, and professional certification from AHIMA or AAPC. A telecommuting option within the U.S. is offered along with a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Professional coder certification with AHIMA and/or AAPC (CPC, COC, CPC-P, CCS) maintained annually.
• 2+ years of experience with PCs in a Windows environment, including MS Excel and EMR systems.
• 2+ years of ICD-10 and CPT coding with a focus in Palliative Care.

Responsibilities

• Assigns accurate diagnostic and procedure codes according to clinical documentation and official coding guidelines for palliative care.
• Assigns CPT and ICD-10 codes to all services.
• Monitors assigned work queues to ensure records are charged/coded timely.
• Generates coding queries for clarification regarding physician documentation as needed.
