Job summary

UPMC Corporate Revenue Cycle is hiring a Coder II to join our Coding Department. This is a work-from-home position, Monday through Friday during business hours.

You will handle outpatient coding, ICD-10-CM and CPT coding, and ensure accurate reimbursement. Responsibilities include applying coding guidelines, attending monthly meetings, and maintaining ongoing education in CPT and ICD-10-CM, with a focus on accuracy and productivity.

Qualifications

• High School or GED equivalent.
• Two years of hospital coding experience
• Completed an AHIMA or AACP-certified Coding program or certificate
• Outpatient: Pharmacology is taught on the job during training; pathophysiology not required.

Responsibilities

• Review outpatient coding for accuracy prior to submission to billing system using ICD-10-CM and CPT codes.
• Assign principal and secondary diagnoses and procedures by reviewing documentation.
• Adhere to coding guidelines and participate in monthly coding meetings and ongoing education.
• Identify incomplete documentation and formulate a physician query to obtain missing information.
• Ensure coding aligns with NCCI edits and DRG/APC or payment tier requirements.
