Job summary

Sigma Technologies is seeking an experienced OSP Field Designer to support telecom projects through a mix of field data gathering, route verification, drafting, and design. The role involves remote work with regular fieldwork in Northern Louisiana and Central Arkansas, starting in Shreveport, LA and Little Rock, AR.

Ideal candidates will have 2+ years in OSP fiber design, drafting, or related work, proficiency with AutoCAD, and the ability to travel, including overnight trips.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Associate degree or higher preferred but not required.
• 2+ years of demonstrated outside plant fiber design, fiber drafting, telecommunications design, or related OSP design experience.
• Experience with field data collection for OSP fiber design work.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD or similar CAD tools.
• Ability to travel and work remotely.

Responsibilities

• Perform outside plant field walkouts, site surveys, and route verification to collect accurate data.
• Identify, inspect, and document poles, attachments, equipment, structures, existing telecom infrastructure, and route conditions.
• Capture photos, measurements, GPS data, field notes, and other documentation for drafting and design deliverables.
• Map collected field data and translate field conditions into design inputs and packages.
• Execute OSP fiber designs including FTTx, aerial, underground, joint-use, and general OSP fiber design.
• Perform 2-D civil drafting and design using CAD tools such as AutoCAD.
• Interpret field notes, maps, schematics, customer standards, and design guidelines to complete OSP designs.
• Support fieldwork travel in Northern LA and Central AR; assist with travel to other areas as needed.
• Collaborate with supervisors, project managers, designers, field technicians, and teams to complete projects.
