Job summary

Sigma Technologies seeks an OSP Field Designer who combines field data collection with precise design work for telecom projects. You will perform surveys, route verification, and 2D CAD drafting, translating field conditions into construction-ready designs.

The role is remote with regular fieldwork in Northern Louisiana and Central Arkansas, with travel up to 50-75% and onboarding in Perrysburg, Ohio. You’ll need to travel and use CAD/GIS tools daily.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Associate degree or higher preferred.
• 2+ years in outside plant fiber design or related OSP design.
• Field data collection/verification experience for OSP fiber design.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD or CAD tools.
• Ability to read engineering schematics, maps, field notes, and customer specs.
• Knowledge of OSP design practices and telecom construction.
• Ability to learn customer software and GIS tools.

Responsibilities

• Perform outside plant field walkouts, site surveys, and route verification.
• Identify, inspect, and document poles, attachments, equipment, and route conditions.
• Capture photos, GPS data, field notes, and other documentation for drafting and design.
• Map field data and translate conditions into design inputs and construction-ready packages.
• Execute OSP fiber designs (FTTx, aerial/underground, joint-use).
• Perform 2D civil drafting using CAD tools.
• Interpret field notes, maps, schematics, and customer standards for accurate designs.
• Collaborate with supervisors, PMs, designers, field staff, and QA teams.
• Support initial fieldwork areas in Shreveport, LA and Little Rock, AR; travel as needed.
