Job summary

Eastern Research Group, Inc. (ERG) is seeking curious, detail-oriented analysts to support national occupational safety and health programs by analyzing injury and illness data and applying standardized classifications.

This is a fully remote, full-time position with collaboration via Microsoft Teams and optional in-person workspace. A bachelor’s degree and 0–5 years’ experience are typical for candidates, with comprehensive benefits and competitive pay.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in communications, health/environmental science, mathematics/statistics, or a related field.
• Experience 0–5 years.
• Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail, with the ability to apply rules consistently.
• Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely.
• Outstanding time-management and organizational skills with the ability to work independently in a remote environment to accomplish assignments in a timely manner.

Responsibilities

• Review workplace injury, illness, and fatality records and apply standardized case‑classification codes using the Bureau of Labor Statistics (OIICS).
• Exercise thoughtful, independent judgment to accurately classify complex or ambiguous cases while maintaining speed and consistency.
• Draft brief, clear incident narratives that summarize the circumstances of each case in plain, concise language.
• Manage multiple work queues and deadlines while maintaining high quality and attention to detail.
• Collaborate regularly with team members and senior analysts for guidance, quality checks, and knowledge sharing.
• Contribute to documentation, process improvements, and evolving analytical practices over time.
• Experience with occupational health and safety and structured coding (e.g. OIICS, ICD coding) is preferred; training for OIICS version 3.03 will be provided.
