Job summary

Onyx Spine and Orthopedic Institute is seeking an Orthopedic Surgery & ASC Coder / Revenue Cycle Specialist to ensure precise ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS coding and accurate charge capture for procedures in both physician practice and ASC settings.

The role supports claim follow-up, denial management, and reimbursement analysis, collaborating across billing, collections, and administrative teams to improve revenue integrity and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or CCS certification.
• Minimum of 3 years of orthopedic surgery coding experience.
• Minimum of 2 years of ASC facility coding experience.
• Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, and modifier usage.
• Experience with commercial insurance, Medicare, Workers' Compensation, and managed care payers.
• Familiarity with orthopedic procedures, spinal procedures, joint replacement, sports medicine, and pain management coding.

Responsibilities

• Code orthopedic procedures for physician and ASC facility claims.
• Review operative reports and physician documentation for accurate coding.
• Ensure coding compliance with payer and CMS guidelines.
• Assist charge entry review and validation for accurate reimbursement.
• Identify coding trends and revenue opportunities while maintaining compliance.
• Stay current on updates to coding rules and payer policies.
• Perform follow-up on unpaid, underpaid, denied, and aging claims.
• Prepare and submit appeals for denied or adjusted claims.
• Assist with denial prevention and reimbursement improvement initiatives.
