Job summary

Intone Inc is seeking an OpenShift Platform Engineer for a remote contract-to-hire role. You will design, build, secure, and operate Red Hat OpenShift clusters across on‑prem, private, and public cloud environments.

You will own the cluster lifecycle, automate provisioning with IaC and GitOps, mentor teammates, and drive automation culture across teams. You will collaborate with security and infrastructure teams to ensure robust security controls and reliable platform operations, while

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 4+ years operating container platforms in production.
• 2+ years with OpenShift or another enterprise Kubernetes distribution.
• Strong Kubernetes/OpenShift architecture knowledge.
• Linux administration skills.
• IaC and configuration management experience.
• Experience with GitOps and CI/CD tooling.
• Scripting skills (Bash/Python/Go).

Responsibilities

• Mentor teammates and peers with containerization, document platform standards and runbooks; lead knowledge-sharing sessions.
• Design reference architectures and reusable building blocks for OpenShift clusters including networking and storage.
• Define best practices for onboarding apps, container images, and resource management.
• Review security controls with customers and compliance teams.
• Work with engineering partners to identify pain points and deliver platform capabilities.
• Analyze capacity, utilization and cost trends; implement right-sizing and autoscaling.
• Evaluate OpenShift releases, Operators, and tools; plan adoption roadmaps.
• Install, configure, upgrade, patch, and scale OpenShift clusters across environments.
• Automate provisioning with Terraform, Ansible, Helm and GitOps tools like Argo CD.
• Build CI/CD pipelines using OpenShift Pipelines (Tekton), Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, or GitHub Actions.
• Manage cluster Operators, storage, ingress, and networking components.
• Implement monitoring, logging, alerting, and tracing; tune performance.
• Plan and test backup, disaster recovery, and HA procedures.
• Review code/config changes for security and supportability.
• Troubleshoot production issues; lead root-cause analysis.
• Participate in on-call rotations and incident response.
• Harden clusters and enforce security policies (RBAC, SCCs, network policies).
• Manage image security, vulnerability scanning, signing, and registries.
• Implement cloud security standards and secure coding practices with security/engineering teams.
• Collaborate to achieve HITRUST certification and compliance.
• Foster team culture with best-in-class practices and customer satisfaction.
