UPMC Hillman Cancer Center is seeking a Research Specialist - Budget Analyst, ONC to support the Oncology Clinical Research Services team in budget development, coverage analysis, and compliant billing for oncology trials in a hybrid on-site/remote role at Hillman in Pittsburgh, PA.

The position involves using EPIC EHR and OnCore CTMS to prepare budgets, negotiate with sponsors, ensure payer alignment, and educate research staff on budgeting practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead development, analysis, and maintenance of clinical trial budgets per protocol and coverage analyses.
• Build, enter, and maintain study budgets within OnCore CTMS.
• Conduct coverage analyses per Medicare CMS and payer rules to distinguish costs.
• Apply CDM and CPT coding to identify billable vs sponsor-covered services.
• Negotiate budgets with sponsors and CROs with contracting and finance teams.
• Ensure policies and payer regulations are enforced in budget development and activation.
• Collaborate with investigators, coordinators, finance, contracting, and compliance.
• Communicate coverage determinations and final budgets to research teams.
• Support resolution of billing discrepancies related to clinical trial services.
• Maintain knowledge of clinical trial financial regulations and payer policies.
• Provide education and guidance on budgeting, coverage analysis, and compliance.
