Job summary

The Oregon Department of Consumer and Business Services, specifically the Oregon OSHA unit, is seeking an Occupational Safety Consultant. This role applies safety engineering principles to prevent hazards and works with employers to enhance health and safety programs.

Telework is possible part-time after proficiency, with regular office hours required. Qualified candidates have state- or federal-level safety experience or degrees in industrial safety, plus strong leadership and communication

Qualifications

• One year of safety experience with Federal or State occupational safety and health organization performing duties comparable to an Oregon OSHA Occupational Safety Specialist 2 level.
• Bachelor's degree in industrial safety or occupational safety and health and two years of professional level occupational safety and health program experience
• An associate degree in industrial safety or occupational safety and health and four years of industrial safety program experience (at least two years must be professional level occupational safety and health program experience)
• Six years of industrial safety program experience (at least two years must be professional level occupational safety and health program experience)

Responsibilities

• Apply safety engineering principles for prevention and control of occupational safety hazards.
• Collaborate with employers, managers, and employees to develop safe workplaces.
• Provide education and consultation to improve safety and health programs.
• Support development of voluntary safety methods and compliance with regulations.
