Job summary

Electric Power Research Institute, Inc. in Charlotte, NC, with a remote/home-based option, seeks an experienced engineer to lead probabilistic risk assessment and risk-informed applications for nuclear safety analysis.

The Technical Leader II will manage PRA research, develop internal flooding and external hazards analyses, use tools like IRT, CAFTA, RiskSpectrum, and contribute to member programs and technology transfer.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering; Nuclear Engineering preferred.
• Approximately 5–10 years of experience in PRA model development or risk-informed engineering.
• Working knowledge of fault tree, event tree analyses and risk quantification.
• Familiarity with PRA areas including internal events, flooding, external hazards or seismic PRA.
• Experience with PRA tools such as IRT, CAFTA, RiskSpectrum, or SAPHIRE.

Responsibilities

• Lead PRA research projects and apply risk-informed methods to nuclear safety analyses.
• Develop and maintain PRA models for internal events, flooding, and external hazards.
• Collaborate with utilities, regulators, vendors, and industry groups.
• Support technology transfer, workshops, and knowledge sharing initiatives.
• Contribute to proposals and business development for future PRA programs.
