Job summary

Muon Space seeks a Cybersecurity Compliance Lead to own our federal security posture, interfacing with government teams and driving RMF, CMMC, and ATO readiness. You will manage SSPs/POA&Ms, ensure CUI and export-control data protection, and collaborate across IT, Security, Engineering and Legal to embed compliance in systems.

The role may be remote from approved locations in the United States and offers a path to advanced government-security collaborations within a growing space tech company.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in cybersecurity compliance or related field.
• Experience interfacing with government cyber security teams.
• Hands-on with NIST 800-171 and 800-53 controls.
• Experience handling CUI.
• Knowledge of EAR/ITAR export controls.
• Experience developing SSPs and POA&Ms.
• Active U.S. security clearance, TS/SCI preferred.
• RMF experience and ATO package development; NISPOM familiarity.

Responsibilities

• Own and mature the organization's cybersecurity compliance program against NIST 800-171 and 800-53.
• Liaise with government cyber security teams, assessors, and sponsors; represent the company in audits.
• Develop, maintain, and improve SSPs, POA&Ms, and supporting documentation.
• Establish and enforce controls for handling, storage, and transmission of CUI.
• Ensure EAR and ITAR compliance across systems, data, and personnel.
• Conduct control assessments, gap analyses, and risk assessments; drive remediation.
• Partner with IT, Security, Engineering, and Legal to embed compliance requirements.
• Prepare the organization for third-party assessments and government accreditation such as CMMC.
• Support RMF/ATO packages for sponsor-accredited systems and ISSM/ISSO duties with facility security.
