Job summary

Reston Consulting Group Inc. is seeking a Network Engineer for a fully remote role supporting a federal government customer. The position emphasizes designing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise networks while collaborating with a distributed engineering team.

Occasional travel to Washington, DC may be required. The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) and at least 6 years of experience with LAN/MAN/WAN, routing, switching, firewalls, and network monitoring. U.S.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a related field.
  • 6+ years designing, implementing, and supporting enterprise network infrastructure.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
  • Experience with LAN/MAN/WAN, routers, switches, firewalls, and monitoring tools.
  • Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, routing, VPNs, DNS, and security fundamentals.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; capable of working independently in a remote team.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, configure, and maintain enterprise network infrastructure for mission-critical operations.
  • Support LAN, MAN, and WAN environments with routers, switches, firewalls, and related tech.
  • Monitor network performance, availability, and capacity to ensure reliable operations.
  • Analyze traffic and plan capacity improvements and upgrades.
  • Troubleshoot complex network hardware/software issues and perform upgrades.
  • Collaborate with vendors and internal teams to resolve outages and improve services.
