Job summary

SEIU — Service Employees International Union is seeking an Organizer for the National Organizing Department. The role focuses on organizing new workers, building power, and supporting SEIU locals in campaigns across the United States.

You will work on strategy implementation, recruit and train worker leaders, and engage with communities to advance union organizing efforts. This full-time, remote position requires flexible hours and travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum 9 months external union organizing experience.
• Excellent interpersonal communication and listening skills.
• Ability to establish and cultivate respectful relationships with people from diverse backgrounds.
• Demonstrated commitment to workers’ rights and social justice.
• Effective spoken and written English.
• Analytical and judgment skills to analyze data and act strategically.

Responsibilities

• Assist and support the execution of organizing strategies to help workers build power and win union recognition.
• Communicate with workers and motivate participation.
• Represent the Union in community and labor coalition activities.
• Conduct broad outreach to non-union workers at homes, worksites, and other settings.
• Identify, recruit, and develop worker leaders.
• Train and support member organizers and develop their skills.
• Build and develop organizing committees on campaigns.
• Conduct meetings to move campaigns forward and plan actions.
• Utilize digital tools to implement campaign strategies.
