Job summary

Sunrise Movement is seeking a Political Director who will work with the Executive Director and campaigns team to set strategy and build key legislative, policy, and partner relationships to advance the Green New Deal. The role requires coordinating across movement partners, elected officials, and campaigns to ensure powerful political strategy at the national level.

The position involves managing a senior team, advising on electoral and legislative action, and representing Sunrise in coalitions

Qualifications

• 5+ years on issue-based campaigns with government and legislative work experience.
• Experience on Congressional, Presidential, or competitive state/local electoral campaigns.
• Ability to manage relationships with elected officials and partners.
• Operations and compliance knowledge related to elections and lobbying.
• Strong belief in base building and member-led organizing.

Responsibilities

• Set political, partnership, and electoral strategy with senior leadership.
• Lead on coordinated electoral work and related campaigns.
• Define narrative direction with communications team.
• Manage relationships with elected officials, campaign staff, and partners.
• Oversee budgeting for the political team and alliance building.
