Job summary

Cayuse Language Connect, LLC seeks a Translator to support agencies by translating education, legal, medical, environmental and social services documents. The role is remote and pays $60.00–$85.00 per hour on a 1099 independent contractor basis.

Responsibilities include translating spoken work situations, transcribing English, reading documents for translation, and editing versions while respecting cultural nuances. Must be fluent in listed languages and pass background checks.

Qualifications

• High School/BA Degree/ or equivalent in years of experience.
• Medical Interpreting Training School.
• Foreign Service Institute.
• Legal Translation online certifications.
• Certified Translation Professional (CPT).
• AOC.
• ATA Certified.
• NAJIT.
• Certification Commission for Healthcare Interpreters.
• Must be fluent in one or more of the listed languages: Arabic, Cantonese, Farsi, German, Haitian Creole, Japanese, Khmer, Kinyarwanda, Mandarin, Nepali, Oromo, Portuguese, Romanian, Somali, Thai, Ukrainian, and Simplified/Traditional Chinese.

Responsibilities

• Accurately translate spoken work situations like lectures, conversations, and meetings.
• Utilizing technology to transcribe spoken English in some settings.
• Reading an original document and translating it into the language required.
• Editing translated versions
• Will need to be sensitive to the culture of the original languages and the target languages during the translation process
• Other duties as assigned.
