Qualifications

• Education as required: Master’s degree in Physics or related field; PhD preferred.
• Texas License in Medical Physics specialty required.
• Board Certification by ABR or ABMS boards (Radiology, Nuclear Medicine, Health Physics) or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Provides expertise in Diagnostic Radiological Physics and Medical Nuclear Physics.
• Serve as primary Radiation Safety Officer for X-Ray Registration and RAM licenses, interfacing with the Texas Department of State Health Services.
• Develop and evaluate radiation safety policies to minimize patient and staff exposure.
• Oversee Equipment Performance Evaluations for diagnostic imaging equipment including CT, X-ray, ultrasound, and MRI.
• Perform dosimetry calculations and shielding assessments to meet regulatory standards.
• Collaborate with architects to optimize radiation-safe space planning and ALARA principles.
• Participate in quarterly physics reviews and radiation safety committees; support incident investigations.
• Assist with accreditation efforts through ACR and regulatory surveys.

Education

Master of Science in Physics / Health Physics / Radiological Physics / Medical Physics, or related field
