Job summary

WESTconsin Credit Union in Wisconsin is seeking a Mortgage Underwriter to independently underwrite complex mortgage loan applications and ensure compliance with federal and state requirements.

This remote, full-time role requires a bachelor’s degree and five years in financial services or mortgage underwriting; residency within WI/MN is expected. You will collaborate with Mortgage Loan Originators and Processors, support HMDA/TRID compliance, and help improve underwriting processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field and five years of financial services or mortgage underwriting experience.
• Strong written and oral communication skills with timely responses.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret mortgage regulations and policies and reside in WI/MN.

Responsibilities

• Underwrites all mortgage loan programs independently and ensures compliance.
• Analyzes loan applications and required documentation per guidelines.
• Verifies data accuracy by reconciling LO system data with documentation.
• Communicates loan decisions and requests for information to originators.
• Maintains high standards of judgement, integrity, and confidentiality.
• Supports department with HMDA/TRID compliance and process improvements.
