Job summary

Burke & Herbert Bank & Trust is seeking an experienced Mortgage Loan Operations professional. The role processes secondary market and in-house portfolio loans, gathers borrower documents, reviews disclosures, and submits files to underwriting.

You will serve as a liaison among originators, underwriters and clients, provide timely status updates, and ensure accuracy and privacy in file handling. Some remote options may be considered.

Qualifications

• Excellent customer service in person and on the phone.
• Able to handle stressful situations calmly and courteously.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong record-keeping and file management abilities.
• Knowledge of MS Word, Excel and Outlook is preferred.
• Bi-lingual Spanish skills are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Process Secondary Market and In-house portfolio mortgage loans.
• Prepare or review disclosures to TRID guidelines.
• Liaise between underwriter, loan originator and client for updates.
• Return inquiries within one business day.
• Collect documents and maintain files for internal reports.
• Order title reports, verifications, flood certs and appraisals.
• Analyze AUS with credit, income and asset documents.
• Index documents to the Document Imaging System.
• Prepare denial letters when needed; support process improvements.
