Job summary

McGowan Mortgages is seeking a Director of Mortgage Operations to serve as the Owner's right hand, remotely. You will own complex files end to end, make the calls, and explain decisions to borrowers and realtors so it lands.

The role ensures the business runs smoothly when the owner is unavailable, across Central/Eastern hours. Base pay ranges from $75,000 to $95,000 with a performance bonus, depending on experience.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in mortgage: senior LO, ops manager, or senior processor/underwriter who has also sold
• Deep in agency (Conv/FHA/VA) guidelines, plus working knowledge of Non-QM/DSCR
• A calm, clear communicator who can make a confused borrower say "that makes sense"
• Decisive and resourceful. You don't need permission to solve a problem
• NMLS licensing required
• Certification in Six Sigma or Project Management is desirable
• Five or more years leading operations management
• Understanding of ERP systems or similar platforms is a plus
• Degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, or a similar discipline
• Proven skills in leadership and managing team dynamics

Responsibilities

• Complex-file decisions: structure, program fit, conditions, DTI/funds problems, and escalations
• Client and realtor "put out the fire" conversations, from tough news to rate shopping and objections, turned into retained loans
• Day-to-day leadership of our LOAs and processors: priorities, coaching, accountability
• Spotting a problem before the client feels it, and fixing the process behind it
• Oversee cross-functional teams to meet project goals and milestones
• Direct the analysis of performance metrics to find improvement needs and achieve results
• Oversee processes to maintain compliance with industry standards and regulations
• Develop strategies to improve operational efficiency and scalability
• Lead the process of aligning operational goals with business objectives by engaging with department heads
