Niyam IT is seeking an experienced Database Engineer to support a federal client in Ashburn, VA. You will design, model, secure, and maintain MongoDB and PostgreSQL databases within an Agile Scrum team.

You will ensure high availability, performance tuning, data security, and automated DevSecOps workflows, collaborating with developers and government stakeholders to deliver mission-critical solutions.

Formación

• US Citizenship with ability to pass federal background check.
• Bachelor's degree in CS/IS/SE or related field.
• 5-7 years in database admin/engineering; 3+ years in MongoDB design/admin.
• Strong MongoDB architecture knowledge: replica sets, sharding, storage, transactions.
• Experience modeling scalable data for document-oriented and relational databases.
• Experience with SQL, DB admin, query optimization across NoSQL and relational.
• Scripting in Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
• Knowledge of TLS/SSL, Kerberos/LDAP, auditing, DB hardening.
• Linux admin experience (RHEL/CentOS) and performance monitoring.

Responsabilidades

• Design and document data models for NoSQL and relational DBs.
• Administer MongoDB environments, replica sets, and sharded clusters.
• Model and maintain PostgreSQL/Oracle databases.
• Tune performance: indexes, pipelines, and queries.
• Implement security controls and backup/DR strategies.
• Automate deployments with Python/Bash and IaC.
• Collaborate in Agile scrum with developers and stakeholders.
