Job summary

Siemens is hiring a Machine Learning Engineering Intern who is currently enrolled in a master's program. You will work with ML engineers to build, evaluate, and ship ML systems that improve asset and operation insights.

This 10-week Summer Internship runs from May 2027 to August 2027, with remote work within the United States and an onsite first week in Raleigh, NC. The role requires strong Python skills, foundational ML math, and the ability to articulate complex ideas in writing and speech.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in a master's degree for the full duration of the internship.
• At least one of: professional software engineering experience, a related bachelor's degree, or a certified coding program.
• Working proficiency in Python.
• Foundational mathematics for ML: linear algebra, probability, statistics.
• Ability to clearly explain complex arguments in writing and conversation.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain data pipelines that clean, label, and prepare datasets for model training.
• Train, fine-tune, and evaluate machine learning models, and write clear reports on what worked and why.
• Design evaluation methods and test cases that expose where a model's reasoning breaks down.
• Write production-quality Python code, with tests and code review, that ships alongside our engineering team.
• Help deploy and monitor models, tracking accuracy, drift, and failure cases after launch.
• Present your work to the team in a final project showcase at the end of the internship.
