Job summary

Siemens AG in Raleigh, NC is seeking a Machine Learning Engineering Intern for Summer 2027. You will join ML engineers to build, evaluate, and ship ML systems that optimize asset performance and operations. The role blends on-site onboarding in Raleigh with remote work during the internship.

We require current enrollment in a master's program, hands-on Python, and comfort with ML fundamentals. The 10-week internship runs May–August 2027 and offers a pathway to apply AI for smarter asset

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a master's degree program for the full duration of the internship.
• At least one of the following: software engineering experience (FT/PT/contract/open-source), a bachelor's in Engineering/Philosophy/Theology/Math, or a coding certification.
• Working proficiency in Python.
• Comfort with foundational mathematics for ML (linear algebra, probability, statistics).
• Ability to explain a complex argument clearly in writing and conversation.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain data pipelines that clean, label, and prepare datasets for model training.
• Train, fine-tune, and evaluate machine learning models, and write reports on what worked and why.
• Design evaluation methods and test cases that expose where a model's reasoning breaks down.
• Write production-quality Python code, with tests and code review, that ships with the engineering team.
• Help deploy and monitor models, track accuracy, drift, and failure cases after launch.
• Present your work to the team in a final project showcase at the end of the internship.
